The first vascular journey in Davao was held at the Marco Polo Hotel last July 7, 2018 spear headed by a close knit group of vascular medicine doctors namely Drs. Judy Fortinez, Reagan Cabahug and Erwin Ybanez. The immediate past president Dr Laura Trinchera was on hand to welcome everyone and facilitate some of the discussions.

The attendees included both practicing internists, primary care physicians and medical students totaling a respectable 130 participants. The topics included basic but common vascular diseases like chronic venous disease, venous thromboembolism, aortic and peripheral arterial diseases and lastly diagnosis of chronic ulcers. All of the above topics were well curated to provide the meticulous internists the basics on how to recognize and manage common vascular diseases. At the end of the lectures, Dr. Gertie May Plameras conducted a simple but systematic and correct way of doing ankle brachial index using a handheld Doppler. The medical students and residents were very enthusiastic to learn the proper way of taking ABI.

After the comprehensive day long lectures and workshop, the society awarded the PHA Davao Chapter represented by its current President Dr. Fortinez a plaque of recognition in advancing the education of medical practitioners on vascular medicine.

Truly this tradition and advocacy of PSVM we call

‘Vascular Journey” , continues to propagate the knowledge of vascular diseases to the grass roots reaching ever widely to

each province that will host its conference.
